1942 - Born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. in Louisville, Kentucky
1954-1960 - He win six Kentucky Golden Gloves titles, two national Golden Gloves titles, an Amateur Athletic Union national title, and the light heavyweight gold medal in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome
1960-1963 - Clay amassed a record of 19–0 with 15 wins by knockout
1961 - He became a Muslim
1963-1965 - World heavyweight champion
1965-1971 - Vietnam War, Ali declared that he would refuse to serve in the army and New York State Athletic Commission suspended his boxing license and stripped him of his title
1071 - Ali was granted a license to box by the City of Atlanta Athletic Commission and Ali vs Frazier's first fight, held at the Garden on March 8, 1971, was nicknamed the "Fight of the Century"
1974 - Ali regained the title by knockout
1981 - Ali retired from boxing and focused on religion, philanthropy and activism
2012 - Ali was a titular bearer of the Olympic flag during the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London
2016 - He died at the age of 74
